Default Using Movie Scenes For Rules Visualization

Interesting question: what bits from movies have you pulled to show your players how a specific set of GURPS rules works? FREX, the below scene is freaking perfect for the Chase Rules in Action 2. There's Move, Mobility Pursuit, Mobility Escape, Stunt, Attack, Force, and even a Wipeout followed promptly by a return to tactical combat...

Just to say I love these write ups, and the various write ups Douglas Cole did for tactical grappling e.g. the Black widow fight sequence from Iron Man 2

Yep, my first thought was Shoting Dice, then Gaming Ballistic.
Both have had very nice writeups.

I love the combat write-ups, ever since that Roleplayer article with the OK Corral write-up. I love the Chase rules, too, but, as they are greatly abstract, they require even more imagination—which makes it harder to get everyone on the same page. This chase in Man from UNCLE is a good example of a large number of the Chase maneuvers and how they interact.

One other ruleset I think would benefit from some worked examples is the Mass Combat rules. It's safe to say most of us have seen "mass combat" in film to one degree of authenticity or another, but in our group's MC experience, we have some difficulty getting on the same page with regard to "Heroic Actions," what they look like and how they affect the flow of the battle—something some proper cinematic/literary examples might help clear up.

Inspired by Hans, I use a similar technique in Psi-Wars to get an idea of what force sword fighting styles might look like. Now I want to dig through Into the Borderlands to figure out how to portray it in GURPS.

Actually, I don't recall ever coming up with this type of comparison. The things I compare to movie techniques are narrative devices—cross cut, fade to black, montage.

Yes, but you don't use really detailed combat, do you? To quite a few people, being able to do the same cool moves as movie characters is really attractive.

Normally I don't. But I ran a campaign set in Paris in the era of the smallsword, under the Regency, where I went into a lot of detail on the mechanics of fencing, based on close reading of Martial Arts. I still didn't think much in terms of movies.
