Default Skating Power

I want to build a Trait that lets the user treat normal ground as if it were a smooth surface and skate on it.
So far my best thought is Terrain Adaptation (Cosmic utility, +50%; treat normal ground as a smooth surface) + Enhanced Move 0.5 (Ground).
The user than makes a skating roll to move around instead of Running.

Other ideas were Create Ice and Walk on Air but both seem more fiddly and offer more utility than desired.
This happens to be for an RPM spell but could work as a power too.

Why do you need Terrain Adaptation here? You don't get any penalties to move along normal ground.

Taking Terrain Adaption for all surfaces seems like a good start, then make it a feature that you skate instead of walk/run (I can't think of a difference except which skill you use in one area, might be an enhancement if Skating also replaces Hiking). If this needs to be a part of the powers, I think it still works as a feature of the trait.

Walk on Air could work. Instead of Create Ice, it could be a feature (maybe enhancement) that you leave an icy platform behind you momentarily. You could then limit it to "Only on surfaces" to let you do things like skate across water, windows, giants, etc.

No, but your not able to skate on it either.
The idea is Terran Adaptation lets you treat one type of terrain as another.

Yeah, thats the too much utility part I'm trying to avoid.

I have a hard time seeing "able to use Skating skill rather than Running/Hiking" as much more than a feature. Maybe a perk.

I guess if the idea is that skating is no more useful than running and walking, I'd make it a feature and take Accessory: Skates for any side benefits (such as kicking doing cutting damage that skates would give). I assumed it would let you skate across any terrain, even sand and swamps.

Ice, or roller? Some skates work fine on smooth ground.

"Can Roll Against Skating Instead of Running" isn't quite Attribute Substitution or Skill Adaptation, but I'd let it go as an equivalent Perk.

Just reread Skating. I forgot it counts both as Running and Hiking. Yeah, just taking Accessory: Skates (for rollarblades) is likely plenty, and maybe Terrain Adaptation (without a need for Cosmic!) to treat non-rough ground as smooth surfaces would work for a more cinematic feel. The 'spell' could even include a high level of Skating and No Nuisance Rolls to let you casually go anywhere and not worry too much.

It does sound mostly like a special effect on Enhanced Move.
