Re: March 20, 2020: Our COVID-19 Response
Thank you very much for communicating all that.
It's very hard to ignore the 800-pound gorilla right now, so I welcome the positive way you addressed it. This whole situation is soooo surreal that I feel more like I'm playing a Steve Jackson game than actually living one, the discomfort aside. Best wishes to everyone in trying to take care of each other. |

Re: March 20, 2020: Our COVID-19 Response
We are very lucky, in that almost all of us have work that can be done remotely. Even better, several of our staff have been telecommuting once or twice a week for a few months now, so this isn't totally uncharted ground. Granted, we didn't think we'd be using it to abate the effects of a pandemic, just Austin traffic.
I've spent some time this week reviewing PDFs of upcoming Munchkin releases and we'll have our first "virtual premortem" next week prior to sending these games off to print. We're getting by and figuring out new ways of doing the job as we go. And, yes, I enjoy the extra hour I have each day that I'm not driving back and forth. All that said -- ironically, I'm going into the office today. Since the latest information seems to be that we should be thinking in terms of months of telework, not days or weeks, I'm bringing some reference materials home from the office. (And I'm grabbing the fancy big monitor from my desk -- I've missed that, let me tell you.) I expect this will be one of the last times I have to head over there until the current crisis has ended and we're all free to resume our normal lives, whatever that means at that point.

You guys stay safe, first of all.
I am happy you will still be productive, even if it is not as efficient. Keep up the good work! |

And I've been doing it full-time for what will be 25 years in July, so if you need any input . . . just ask!

Re: March 20, 2020: Our COVID-19 Response
On one hand, this is excellent news.
On the other, this means I've actually got to meet that deadline coming up on Monday. Back to the word mines...

Best wishes and best of luck! Please know that your games are already a great source of comfort and connection for people - my brothers and friends and I are playing The Fantasy Trip by video conferencing, and it is a perfect way to enjoy each other's company from a distance.

Re: March 20, 2020: Our COVID-19 Response
Thoughtful planning and communication like this makes me want to support Steve Jackson Games even more than I have in the past. (So I guess I'll continue my trend of buying things I don't need based on nostalgia from my childhood....😀)
Thank you for being you! |
