I use Badger's Stynylrez to prime the older metal miniatures, and it seems to work well for that.

I have found it does not stick to the plastic miniatures at all though. It is easily scraped off with a fingernail, and at one point I found it flaking off edges I was drybrushing.

Really no need to prime plastic. Wash with window wash that has alcohol and wetting agent, removes any grease, and you should be good to go.
