How much material does each elemental "comprise of" if they don't follow the same formula as the animals?

And which disbelief system (human or animal) does a pack of werewolves use against an illusion of a silver elemental? (Note that TFT werewolves are declawed and defanged for your protection!)

We talking here about rulings not alternate house rules; the RAW does not make it explicitly clear what they mean about contact with an element. I think it is up to every GM (or group) to decide these sorts of issues, with no obvious answer that we should think most groups would settle on.

Anyway, I like the thought that elementals get to recuperate until you somehow separate them from their home turf.

I would also point out, that if you DO rule as hcobb suggests, that an earth elemental can pass through earth as if it were insubstantial... well that means that almost everyplace, it could just shift DOWN through the ground and become more or less invulnerable, and it'd also be easy for it to go extremely deep underground. You'd almost never have more than one turn to try to catch an earth elemental that wanted to escape, and they could stalk you underground and appear behind you with no warning, etc.

They could also emerge from underneath you to get you in HTH.
