Default Very important question

if you have Compartmentalized Mind how does that work with charging spells
do you have to wait and only charge your magery each turn or would the mind give you extra maneuvers to charge in the same turn

by description in the magic book it says you can only charge once a turn but by base book you only have one mind
i would liek and refrences if this was in a faq or something

Correction: Not a Concentrate Maneuver, but a full Mental Maneuver. You can do more than concentrate using a Mental Maneuver.

For purposes of gaming, CMs can be treated as two separate character minds under some conditions. You can concentrate on two spells with a level of CM. Says so specifically in the descriptions.

If your skill with the spells is 20 or higher, there is absolutely no reason to consider forbidding casting them on the same turn. Assuming your body has the fatigue to power them.

At skill 15-19 in 4th edition (18-21 if you're on 3rd) you may cast a spell with gestures only or speaking only, so if the character can speak and gesture, one mind can gesture the other speak and you cast two on the same turn.

At lower skill levels you must devote your body's efforts to casting one spell, as you must speak and gesture. One spell at a time.

I think I would rule, off the cuff, that a player could not use his CMs to charge the SAME spell twice, but I would allow him to charge two separate spells at the same time.

Neither of these statements is true. The Compartmentalized Mind writeup in Basic explictly mentions concentrating on two spells at once as something you can do (Basic, p. 43), and Kromm has clarified (in this post, for example), that Compartmentalized Mind also allows you to "parallel process" a single mental action, dividing the number of Concentrate manuevuers it would usually take by your level in Compartmentalized Mind.

And you'd be incorrect unless you created a limited form of CM, since the rules allow for CMs to be able to do exactly that.

Here's the FAQ entry if anyone has any doubts:

I also vagely remember Kromm saying that spells benefit from 'multi-core processing', but I wouldn't rely on it unless you found the quote.

Do only I hate it when a tread has a title where you can't see what it is about? :(

Seconded. BTW, it's casually mentioned in the Tags thread, but it belongs to the forum rules proper, which I do not control.
