Default Advice for building Ogre miniatures

Does any one have any advice for assembling and gluing the plastic Ogre miniatures? Specifically, superglue or plastic glue, what worked best. Also does the glow in the dark minis work well with plastic glue.

Thanks.

The nice, hard plastic of the Ogre miniatures responds well to all sorts of glue. I used superglue, but others have used plastic glues, MEK, and even mild solvents to great effect.

I'm probably a bit of an outlier, I use MEK and a very fine brush (at least a 00, maybe a 000) to apply it. You can use Methylene Chloride the same way (often sold as plexiglass cement). Testor's liquid cement for plastic works well too, same way.

I used Gorilla Super Glue. Has a slower dry time than typical crazy glues which is nice to have time to position things just the way you want before it sets. My glue of choice for the OGRE plastic minis.

Does it expand? Regular Gorilla Glue expands into an unholy mess.

Regular Gorilla Glue is a polyurethane glue that does expand and is entirely unsuitable for use with miniatures.

Gorilla Super Glue is an alphacyanoacrylate (ACC) glue. It is slower to set and less brittle than many ACC glues. I use it on metal minis, but I prefer Plastruct for the plastic minis.

I'm always reluctant to use ACC on plastic models due to a tendancy to craze the surface, especially on clear parts.

I never noticed any expansion.

Any thoughts on UV cure resins?

Yeah, I use Testor's Model Master Liquid Cement with the metal needle nozzle. A fine brush would give even better control, though. The OGRE plastic minis often friction-fit quite well, so you can use capillary action to glue them.

The main assembly trick I can think of is to assemble the Paneuropean GEVs over a pan or other container. The engine pods are tiny and slick. I've had more than one go sailing off into oblivion.

I prefer plastic solvent glues to "super glues" mainly because I can't glue my fingers together with plastic solvent glues.

I use a drop of Zap-a-Gap.

And build the tiny bits inside a big box lid to minimise escapees.
