-GURPS Monster Hunters 4 (by Jason "PK" Levine; outline approved and writing started as of January 21st)
Pure speculation on what the actual book topics will be:

It might be similar to how Action and DF have been. Templates for the first book, exploits/adventures for the second, the third book for powerups or special abilities campaigns (though from the hint it would seem to have stats for monsters as wel) and maybe the 4th a specific set of rules for a class/type of game.

Good, this thread is still mostly intact. ;)

What's happened in the last week? Tactical Shooting has had final content tweaks made. Art is being discussed for Horror and DF Monsters 1. The playtest for Social Engineering has been completed, and the final draft should be submitted in the next few weeks. Monster Hunters 3 has entered productions, and the first draft of Monster Hunters 4 is halfway complete. Speaking of Monster Hunters, we got three new hints from RPK on the fora: a coded hint about topics for volume 4, some crunchy info on skill defaults and rituals, and a writeup of the Occultism skill.

With Tactical Shooting hopefully being released this month I was wondering if it would include character templates, and if so what ones.

I seem to recall yes, there will be some templates AND styles. I'll leave it to Hans or Sean to leak more. :-)

There are style templates, but no character templates. I deemed that unnecessary, as the ones that would have been most logical (Agent, Cop, Commando, US Navy SEAL, etc) have already appeared in other books, such as Action, Martial Arts: Fairbairn Close Combat Systems, and SEALs in Vietnam. This book was a very tight fit, wordcount-wise, and thus I didn't think repeating such templates would be efficient.

Cheers

In some parts, this is kinda sad - I'd like to have those templates in one place. In others, it just makes me want Tactical Shooting even more - I like the idea of style templates, and I really like the idea that the book so full of goodness it was a tight fit.

In fact, I cut an awful lot of stuff (that was after I had already decided that there would be no space for character templates), which may or may not appear somewhere else. I'm already working on a follow-up proposal that grew out of a whim after having re-watched Red Dawn and Seraphim Falls . . .

Cheers
