iphone/Android apps and Carwars ( and I know this is wrong thinking )
Ok, this is one of those "dream a little dream" posts - flame if you must.
In a future version of CW, I'd love to have a smart phone app where you can build your vehicle, keep track of your handling, speed and damage etc - you bring along your car on your phone and play CW with you mates at the gaming table....the only counters you need to move around are the cars, pedestrians and placing some debris ...but where this all goes wrong is, - you'd probably want to play on a virtual board too with people all over the world. People are playing turn based games on these smart phones, but nothing as complex as CW. Realistically, I think it would be a really small group that wants to play turn based car combat on a smart phone... The genre of car combat still keeps goin though... |

Would the smart-phone car combat app come with a magnifying glass? I can see it working on a larger screen, eg tablet pcs, but think you'd have problems try to see everything that's happening with a reasonable-sized arena....

I want sensors in the cars... and the app to validate everything's location

Once upon a time I started writing a car tracker for my Palm to pair with the Java car designer I was working on. Didn't get too far, as you can tell. Maybe it's time to dust off the design?

Collisions were the killer part for me.
You'd actually have to care about 2d TV-action physics to write this. |

I hear ya, It would be pretty easy to zoom in and zoom out of the game board. I have seen this implemented in another game I play on my Iphone.

Java would be the way to go and then it wouldn't matter what device you you had...
