Default Quick way to play Illuminati?

Hi all!

Just picked up the deluxe edition of Illuminati - love the game, by the way - and I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on adjusting the rules for a much speedier game, say, over the course of an hour lunch for example?

Thanks

Arrrr, me lad, the simplest way be to adjust the goals. If ye knock 3-4 groups off th' total needed, th' game'll play much faster.

How e'r, if ye do that, most o' the special goals (e.g., Bavaria's "total Power" goal) become worthless, so y'may need to adjust those as well. I have no numbers for ye -- this'll require playtesting, matey.

My sympathies to PK on his evident stroke.

(Also, I've moved this thread to the Card Games forum.)

A long while back, a few friends and I (who all worked together) used to play Illuminati during lunch. We would occupy a conference room for an hour or two each day to play. We did not, however, try to complete a game during any one lunch. An entire game would take several days to a week (M-F) to finish. We would each write down our own power structures and money totals and use that to set up the next day. Yes, we actually trusted each other not to cheat. That gave us all afternoon and the next morning to plot and scheme against each other (and maybe get some work done).

Of course, these days you may have to be careful -- you may want to avoid having to explain to IT that the e-mail that you sent detailing your plan to use the International Communist Conspiracy to wrest control of the Federal Reserve from the Society of Assassins is just a game.

time limit on turns is great way to play a quicky, but only recommended with experienced players.

Nah, that's just what happens when you post on Talk Like a Pirate Day. :-)
