Default Card back changes really?

So it appears that card backs do change. I'm sure at the time there was a good reason to make them look different over the treasure cards. Most complaints about card backs are about the printer differences over the years giving off slightly different colors. One could argue new expansions aren't compatible with the card back change. You can see the change in the image link below on the Brown to White card change.

The bad part is if you just bought 4-8 about half your cards are the old style and the other half new style. The options left are to play and people know if its set 1-3 or 4-8 or spend 40 dollars and rebuy 1-3 or spend over 40 dollars to sleeve all sets 1-8. Costly lesson I assumed wrong since most CCG don't change their card backs like MTG for the last 20+ years... I hope this saves someone the trouble or money for a non communicated change.

Wow. That's a very old set. I cannot even remember exactly when that change was made.

I mean, that set is crazy old. I'm impressed you've got a printing from that far back.

I'm pretty sure the Great Lightening happened in 2005-2006, when Munchkin 4 came out. A vintage set indeed!

Check the edition and printing on the box/foil -

Some things I have are first edition, 1st printing and the date printed...

The very old sets didn't have that.

I have a thread called: "Old Cards, New Cards, OOP cards, Ack!"

The change was, in fact, communicated . . . ten years ago when it happened.

I guess i dated my set really quickly, thank you for the nice comments. Good find for that post in the archive. I guess its too bad their not on the boxes since I didn't go through the archive and my google skills couldn't find anything based on card backs. I will say support couldn't even give me that link nor were they helpful. I get worried everytime i see a brown one that i have a treasure mixed in with the doors. The irony is the back change was to there to prevent that :-) Thanks again i'll have to see if i'm going to sell those or get get sleeves since my OCD won't let me have it that way.
