Brown Nose Rule Clarification!!! please help
Hi I have a question about the promo card:
+3 Bonus Hireling: Brown Nose "The Brown Nose will stay with you for one fight. After the combat, he moves to the highest-Level player, replacing any Hirelings that player already has" We played this card and we spent over 30 minutes searching out precedence, and rules for this and couldn't find any. I'd love to hear people's thoughts (especially, the Developers). I believe the intention of this card is that moves from person to person whomever is the highest level at the time. However, we had people that read the card a little harder.... "will stay with you for ONE fight". the person who got the card was already the highest level on the board, and one his next fight... which was the ONE fight, the Brown Nose stayed with him. No problem there. However, when someone else took the lead, that was the issue. Since the card doesn't say "fight", or "every fight", "or any fight"... but ONE fight... does the Brown Nose stay with the original munchkin or move every time (each time a person takes the lead)? Question 2: If and when the Brown Nose moves, and that person has a hireling already, the Brown Nose will do the "replacing any Hirelings that player already has". This seems like pretty strong language. The way I interpreted that was that it replaces a hireling that the new player has - regardless of the type/strength of the old hireling, not allowing the player to choose whether to keep it. Correct? .... and Question 3: if the player has a card that allows him to have more than 1 hireling at a time (and that person has 2 hirelings already)... does the player who receives the Brown Nose get the choice which hireling to remove? or does it remove all (unlikely). I know that's a lot of info. I really appreciate any feedback on this card. It seems so simple, yet as you see we found it to be a little sticky... pun intended. Thanks everyone!!! |

Re: Brown Nose Rule Clarification!!! please help
Here's how the Brown Nose works. (For the record, this is MEANT to be a card that some people will hate -- have YOU ever worked with a Brown Noser?)
Someone gets the card and puts it into play. They have that Hireling until the end of their next combat, unless some over effect makes it do away even sooner. Once that combat is over, the Brown Nose moved to the highest-Level player who isn't the current owner (please note subtle addition of errata here), breaking ties with ritual combat, auctions, or just rolling dice if you're boring. That player discards all Hirelings they currently in play, who want nothing to do with the Brown Nose, even if the player has a card allowing multiple Hirelings.

Thanks Andrew! I appreciate the very fast response! (not trying to brown nose...)
Just to clarify... after that move when the Brown Nose moves to the very next Highest Level Player.... that's the end of his moving around. He doesn't jump again, correct? Thanks again! |

He doesn't move again until his new owner has his own combat.
