Upgrading to 4th. Question.

Hey all,


I have justed decided to upgrade my Beloved 3rd Edition books to 4th.

Question I have, is seeing there is no 4th edition vehicles book. If I continue to use 3rd, is there any game mechanics that it will break if I make vehicles for 4th using 3rd Edition rules? Or can it be something I can just ignore?

The ST and HP scales are different, weapon stats are slightly different (no SS and rapid fire works very differently).

That seems more like differences with the Core Books. I am more wondering if I design a simple truck for example using 3rd, would it be relatively uneffected in 4th, or would it be tottally broken, over powered or what not.

Vehicles have HP and weapons designed with the system in Vehicles have 3e stats.

It will have more HP than 4e stats would give it.

So they should be a little bit weaker then... thats easy enough to figure out.

You can just use the formula/table for HP of things with Unliving based on mass.

Also if you do not already have it the GURPS Update will be handy.

Back when 4e was young and the Tech books had not been published yet I ran a Space game with 4e character creation and 3e Vehicles and UT books. I even used 3e Psionics. It all worked fine.

Yeah, you can do that too, just use the damage rules in Vehicles rather than the 4e thresholds.
