Oreos.

The best method to detect demons is Oreo cookies. Thin Mints in a pinch.

Now any 'normal' being in the cosmos will get some milk to dunk such sweet goodness. If they have no milk, they will eat them plain.

However a demon will dunk them in water (or beer or other more disturbing liquids).
