Incidentally the problem was solved another way. A PC provoked Michael who gave a big fat celestial GTFO and teleported them all. No word yet on how they'll get back...

I'd advise against provoking an Archangel a second time - he might not be so nice on a repeat occurrence. ("McMurdo Station is lovely this time of year. ... No, Seraphim, that's what's known as 'sarcasm'.")
