That rule is pretty explicit that you use maximum Reach to determine the penalty to use it in Close Combat, rather than having it be -4 to skill per -1 to minimum Reach, although I certainly prefer to use it as though it were the latter. Humorously, that would mean if a Jet is Reach 1-10 you'd be at a whopping -40 to use it at Reach C.

Yeah... I wouldn't use those rules at all for jets. Not even a little bit.

You can just spend 1 FP though, even if you have Magery 10.

I'd allow it to be used at Close range. Just remember that the enemy can do that as well.

Note that an actual flamethrower would get Bulk, so this is consistent.
