The session begins trying to mitigate an uprising and prevent a war, or at least a slaughter, should actual troops come to put down the threat to the economic center that is Phandelver. The middle is a short, sharp fight. The end is a dearth of information and a lot of speculation.

A great combination of roleplaying, a deep, deep world background, and the players weaving their own doom by wondering about intricate subplots out loud in front of a mischievous GM.

Following Peter's lead, I remember that I never did throw down my character for Rob's Majestic Wilderlands campaign.

He started with what might be one of the best sets of rolls I've ever thrown down, and the details got more interesting the more we talked about him.

Anyway: here's my Paladin.

I'm playing a Paladin of 4th level, following Oath of Devotion. The character background and full writeup can be found on my blog in a previous post.

I've got six spell slots plus Sanctuary and Protection from Evil/Good which are Oath abilities and therefore always prepared. What I'm wondering is, in the collective experience, what spells are effective in what conditions and fit with the character concept.

My experience with D&D magic is somewhat limited, and I'm very interested in actual play anecdotes about where each spell might be more and less useful.

We return to Rob Conley's Majestic Wilderlands, and the four of us have a brief combat, but more importantly, talk to all the right people. We gathered a crap-ton of intel, and are now laying plans to ambush some bad folks who want to lay waste to Phandelver/Phandalin. But that's next time . . .

The party takes down the only military force in the local area in a spectacularly effective ambush. We are then quite confused about what to do next.

Another fun session in the Majestic Wilderlands. We are moving through the countryside, fighting evil when it's convenient to do so, on our way to do stuff in the city of Tain.

What started out as a lightweight investigation and "let's deliver the captured armor to be held in escrow by the Church of Mitra" goes rapidly downhill when in the middle of negotiations with the Sheriff, who turns out to be Level 15, one of the PCs shoots him.

Things go rapidly downhill.

Yesterday's fight was pretty bad - but it could have been a lot worse. How? Powers and allies for one. But our encounter left me with some real appreciation of fight dynamics.

At long last, I have updated Brian Engard's Firing Squad inteview with a full text transcript. So if you prefer to read rather than watch or listen, now you can!

Brian and I talked for about 90 minutes, and we covered a lot of ground. So if you missed it the first time, now is your chance to fix that!

An epic session and equally epic play transcript. We attack a damned castle, from the inside, and hold our own. At some point in the near future, we may well be singing Les Mis from the top of a burning castle. For now, we lived through another session, and actually carried off our ever-evolving "plan" in good form.
