Size Matters
So... for whatever this is worth to whomever chooses to use it...
I calculated sizes based on Strength for humans. I was allowing my PCs to take a size different than the baselines by up 10% in either direction. Whenever someone wants to wear clothing or armor that was being worn by someone else, or when they are trying to disguise themselves as someone else, I usually go by Strength for general size comparison. For appearance, I roll 3d6 to see how different that individual is from the PC. I allow PCs to choose their appearance deviation from the average, or simply assume they are a 10 or an 11 (on a 3d6). I added build modifiers to GCA using a website that calculates BSA or Body Surface Area from height and weight. I then compare that BSA to the BSA of a ST 10 person to get a relative size modifier that I use to modify Armor and Clothing. This is messy, but if you cut and paste it into notepad (.gdf file), it looks normal. *********************************************** <Build> "Adjusting for Skinny Build, ST:6", *.5899, gives(*.5899 to owner::baseweight), shortname(Skinny ST:6), page(User), group(Build), description(Skinny ST:6 (HP:6). Re: Size Matters
wow. I feel like I should find a way to use this in my campaign because it seems like you did a lot of work on it. Does size comparison come up a lot in your campaign?

Re: Size Matters
With regards to the Build Mod, I use it for all clothing and equipment.
However, the size comparison roll comes up once every few weeks or so, depending upon the campaign type. Knocking out a guard, donning his uniform and pretending to be him does happen. I came up with the 3d6 idea on the fly once when I needed it. I have used it for voices as well. How much do you sound like someone else. Apply the difference between the two values as a penalty to Disguise or Mimicry (Speech). |
