Default Question about Annihilation when used in combat.

I understand that using Annihilation against a monster in combat does not allow the player to loot the room or look for trouble, but if the monster is Annihilated does this entitle the player to the monster's treasure? The reason I ask is that it's implied in the rules that if the monster is removed the player still draws treasure. A ruling would be great because our gaming group was split on this.

An 'automatic defeat' will net you the Treasure (and Levels) of the monster, but Annihilation does not use the term. Thus, I'm fairly sure the monster and its Treasure just cease to be.

You annihilate the Monster and its Treasure.

That was my contention as well. A few of my fellow gamers saw it differently however.
