A 6dx3 explosion does 63 damage . . to whatever is struck by it. Two yards away divide it by 6, round down . . so 10. Against torso armor, which at TL 10 might be Nanoweave, so 6 vs crushing, so 4 damage

TL 10 first aid might well fix that right up . . . and even if you get unlucky, its still probably better than having an enemy battlesuit right next to you!

Given that WWII lunge mines were considered suicide weapons I admit the idea of trying to stab someone in melee range with a HEAT spear does seem a very dubious proposition though
I got to say if it was me in that situation, I think I'd rather tape the warhead to a drone and have it do the dirty work heh.

It does seem a bit silly, but I am totally willing to have brave (or desperste) souls attempt melee attacks against battle suits. Especially if I do Space Stalingrad or such

Attempting to follow your equations, I got a TL 10 HEAT warhead of 6 lbs should do 6d x15 and have 6d x4 explosion and be 140mm

Well the first rule of Roll Playing is Fun=Good. It doesn't matter how silly something would really be, if you and your group think its awesome then reality be damned! Hell, it might even make sense for desperate rebels who have to make use of unconventional tactics and tools since that's all the have to work with.

And yep. Assuming normal a normal HEAT round, a TL10 140mm one will do 6d×15(10) cr ex with 6d×4 cr ex linked.

There is certainly precedent for 'infantry engage armor at very close ranges' as a less than ideal but definitely oft attempted battle strategy, so I feel very comfortable with the throw able HEAT javelin entering arsenals

It just seems weird that 'stab a tank with a reach 3 warhead tipped spear' is a tactic that while able to knock through a tank is not going to inflict real harm on the lightly armored spear wielder

Are you friends with a child? Have one of your own? Have you noticed them acting different? Quieter? More reserved and low-energy lately? If so then I suggest keeping a close eye on them.... They might of caught the eye of the Sorrowful Ones....

Recently Cheomesh posted an article on his blog were he stated out the HY-2 Seersucker.

Down in the comments we got talking about his stats and he explained that he had difficulty in understating how the link damage thing worked with HEAT warheads.

Now this is a common issue I've noticed and sadly it makes sense. There have been three (3!) different ways to stat HEAT rounds in GURPS for 4th edition! And some of these rules aren't as well explained as the others.

So in today's post, I tackle how you handle a HEAT rounds damage and some of my issues with it.

Nice post, my big takeaway was from what amounts to an aside you made.
I always thought the bit about losing the AD after 1/2 damage made no sense for a missile. Never made the connection that the rules were assuming an off angle hit. Thank you for that!

Thanks, it's what I'm here for heh.

Yeah, HEAT rounds need a very precise standoff range to wok right and early HEAT warheads had a chance of hitting just off center enough to screw that up at long ranges. Of course this was only a chance of happening, not a 100% thing and it was only passed their "effective" range which the 1/2D range does not repesent. Thankfully High-Tech over rolled that nonsense... It's just too bad it also muddled up how to roll a shaped charges bloody damage so much heh.

Happy GURPSday everyone! And holy cow, did the Cubs just take the pendent?! As a someone who grew up and lived damn near my whole life in Chicago... I'd never thought I'd live to see this day!

But, back to the business at hand!

You guys seem to love my Power Armor, Powered-Up article, so I'd figure it was time to give you all a little More Power, More Armor!
