Default Things you can do when it's not your turn

The rules say you can trade carried Items around when it's not your turn. You also can obviously affect combat in various ways when it's not your turn. What else can you do while other people are taking their turns?

Can you change Items from "in use" to "carried"? It says you may do this at the start of your turn, but not if this is the only time. It says the same about trading Items (see above). Can a Thief try to steal something at any point as long as the target is not fighting?

It's been ruled that you can switch position of Items at any time you are not in combat, so others' turns are fine. You can use class abilities, such as Theft, at any time as well, unless the ability says otherwise. The only rule on timing of Theft is that neither the target nor the Thief may be in combat.

Other things you can do on others' turns include cursing people, playing GUALs on people and discarding your current Race or Class (but not playing a new one).

In a table in my flowcharts (see my signature), I have tried to categorise all the common actions into those that require it to be your turn or not. It's not officially reviewed, but everything I've put into that table is based on official rulings, so I'm fairly certain it's accurate.

As long as you are not in combat. That's an important rule, and it needs to be stated every time, especially in the 101 forum.

I agree. I'm quite ashamed that I neglected to mention it, given how much of a stickler I usually am for exceptions like that. I edited it into the post for clarity.
