Further Up the Spire - GURPS blog
I started a blog for my new GURPS DF campaign, set in Monte Cook's Ptolus.
Aside from session reports, I plan to include both GM advice and rules discussion, so I'll try to ping this when a GURPS-specific post comes up. http://archonshiva.com/blog/spire/ |

Re: Further Up the Spire - GURPS blog
This is great. The prelude session sounds like it was a blast!
From here it looks as if you prepared very carefully, and it really paid off. All your props look great, and I'm loving the "how-to-host-a-murder" feel of the "Merchant Twins" prelude over dinner. I look forward to your next session report! |

Re: Further Up the Spire - GURPS blog
Would it be possible for you to post about your simplified rules for The Last Gasp? The Last Gasp is a very interesting system, but its complexity is a major problem with implementation.

For what it's worth, I posted simplified The Last Gasp thoughts on my blog today.

Re: Further Up the Spire - GURPS blog
Joe:
I was a bit nervous about Merchant Twins, but it was a really great test of whether my players could get into solid RP. Chris: Thanks for the warm welcome! The Last Gasp: Yes TLG is amazing, and also rather fiddly - and none of my players are even GURPS players! I'll definitely read Doug's article (after the Technical Grappling redux, which I mostly integrated, I'm starting to feel like I have a personal GURPS developer handling my issues!), but maybe a 1350 words treatment wasn't quite what I had in mind by simplified... Players get Breath Point, Fatigue Points and Exhaustion Points, all from the same pool - they're three ways to spend FP. Penalties for being fatigued are based on the total spent of all types. Attacking or Moving costs 1 BP. Move and Attack or All-Out Attack cost 2. Defenses cost no BP, but: Parry and Block are at -2 unless you spend 1 BP (in practice, I call 1 BP for +2) Dodge is at -3, but you can spend 1-3 BP for +1 to +3. Acrobatic Dodge is 1 BP. Recover skips your turn for +1 BP, and if no BP are spent defending, roll HT to regain 1 BP, +1 per 4 MoS. Rest makes you Do Nothing for +2 BP, and the HT roll is at +4, but you defend at -4. Involuntary Do Nothing, Aim, and Evaluate all recover 1 BP. You can gain 1 Exhaustion point (long-term fatigue) to recover half your missing BP. This is very roughly it, and that's basically an untested draft. I'll post about it on the blog once I've tried it enough that I have something to say about it. We use glass beads, btw. It seems pools do not run out much, but since defences might eat most of it, it should allow me to ignore BP for fodder and let them defend badly. |

Re: Further Up the Spire - GURPS blog
Very nice! That's basically what I do for the most part.

Re: Further Up the Spire - GURPS blog
I packed the Speed/Range Table with lots of stuff for each size modifier, like weight, ST, HP and equivalent D&D size category.
EDIT: Link removed. Deprecated until I can redo it better. Last edited by ArchonShiva; 02-14-2016 at 09:24 AM. |
