It echoes the idea of how fast the TARDIS moves on Doctor Who. It moves at the speed of plot.

are you familiar with the GURPS Ogre book? (by Jonathan Woodward, ca. 2000) most of the numbers therein should still apply.

Yes.

:)

First off, its 3e, secondly, Woodward intentionally didn't translate the material accurately.

JLV's our resident nuke expert; he really knows what he's talking about. :)

Out of interest, does JLV or anyone else know what size warheads say, a HVY or Ogre MB shell would have?

(I'm assuming they are very, very small.)

If the much maligned GURPS Ogre can be believed, both the HVY and MB fire a 175mm SATNUC round which dispenses 19 shaped charge nuclear submunitions each equivalent to 1/2 ton of TNT.

That's extrapolating way beyond current technology, but our current inventory's smallest yields are in the .5 to 1.5 KT range ("dial-a-nuke" type weapons). Since they are "dial-a-nuke" that means the basic bomb is designed for maximal yield (usually around 150KT) and you can "poison" the reaction to get very small yields instead. Unfortunately, those designs are fairly large and would probably not translate well to artillery rounds given the shocks and stresses on the weapon body when its fired out of an artillery tube. For now, I'd go with whatever GURPS Ogre says until Steve or someone puts out more data for the "real" Ogreverse....
