Default Kneeling and Prone

After reading over the rules several times I cant figure out what advantage you would gain by kneeling or being prone. I see that being prone gives you a bonus to attacking with a crossbow, but that's it. Am I missing something? Why would you use these options in a combat situation? The only thing I can think of for kneeling is to maybe pick up a weapon? Any insight would help thanks!

Kneel behind cover: ITL 116 (+2 DX adjustment if the cover provides a crossbow brace)

this might be 'old rules' (or my house rules or my imagination lol)

isnt it -4 DX to shoot at prone guys with missile weapons? (hence the WW2 passtime of hitting the deck when bullets start to fly?)

Yeah I thought the advantage for both would be to make it more difficult to be hit from a thrown or ranged weapon but I don't see it in the rules anywhere. Maybe that can be my first house rule.

obviously its not a great tactic for a bowman lol .. one area where xbows definitely have the advantage

AAAND its probably not gonna work great if the shooter is only 1 hex away (possibly 1 or 2 hexes away)

The -4 DX for a missile weapons user to hit a target that is prone/concealed is listed on page 122 of the new ITL. It is under concealment. "-4 if your target is half hidden, or prone or kneeling behind a body".

Can a wizard specify three foot high for "Create Wall"?

How about Create Wall with an arrow slit and a crossbow brace?

The former, I would think yes. It might even have a discounted cost to cast.

The latter, I would think not. Extra details, rather than just something solid, might qualify it as "Create Battlement".
