Actually, you got me thinking of Sodom and Gomorrah. Might check them out as well.
Between this post, that post, a month-old IRC game thread (my idea) and the thread tag . . .

How's Sodom doing?

You never let up, do you, old boy? :)

So as not to threadjack this fine thread with my own pretentious horror setting, I direct you here for my longwinded answer.

I know. They migrated for privacy. IMHO, tis a bit hard to engage in nefarious occult practices in the middle of a high population area.

Ah, good point. The PC's start out as a bunch of 'field archeologists' working on Egyptian remains in southern Palestine. There will be a choice of leads which could encourage them to travel north.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Necromancy <=> slaughtering of hundreds of children. Sounds like they can go together quite well.

Might be a little far afield, but some of the background in TimPower's Declare, involving Mount Ararat and djinn, could be useful red herrings.

Great book! Anything by Powers is great. I remember a GURPS Tim Powers page on the web a looong time ago. I use a lot of his Expiration Date/ Last Call/ Earthquake Weather/ Drawing of the Dark material in my game world.
