Ordered Magic from Amazon UK, who claim to have it available. Will the updated PDF be on W23?

Is Magic necessary for an understanding of Thaumatology?

No, but around 80 pages are devoted to the spell system, which has a poor choice of spells outside of Magic, and syntactic magic advices to use the prices in Magic for magic items.

Basically Thaumatology isn't really a book about magic or a magic system, it is a book which presents several alternative magic systems several of which require the standard magic system and the spells from GURPS Magic to fully utilize. It also provides several systems which are completely independent from GURPS Magic. So the answer is a firm yes and no, but you will get more use out of Thaumatology if you have GURPS Magic.

(EDIT: See below. My answer here was incorrect.)

Downloaded in response to your post, to a separate filename, and it's the old PDF. This was purchased on order e23-110804-176216.

There are some PDFs that didn't recieve any new update. Magic, Supers and maybe even the Basic Sets. Why's that? I mean, it's not that difficult to make a update in the digital books... at least in DrivethruRPG it's a commom thing.

I've looked further into this and I apologize; I was mistaken about these versions having been uploaded.

The newest files have been sent to CreateSpace, but are not yet available as PDFs. This is because "PDFs to be used as ebooks" are actually created rather differently than "PDFs to be used for print-on-demand" -- their covers are handled differently, they need bookmarks, etc. So these have not yet been created because we've had to prioritize the Dungeon Fantasy RPG and other day-to-day projects first. (It's not going to take a lot of work to finish these up -- perhaps a day or so -- but that still means waiting until we have a spare day.)

It's worth noting that, due to our optimizing them for CreateSpace, these new files are laid out in black & white, not color. So when we do upload them, they will be B&W PDFs, much like Ultra-Tech.

That's disappointing.
