Ah I see. The wording was changed (which is why I didn't remember it) but the effect is pretty close to the same as the perk.
It changes 'Replace the ST roll with a skill roll' to add your skill level above DX to your ST.
Depending on your ST that can be a big difference though.

Also those styles can be learned for shapeshifters or adapted for other PC types.
As soon as possible.

Just note that my comments won't necessary be a reference because I'm not at all an animal expert, even if I learned some little things here or there (mainly thanks to TV documentaries).

Furthermore, animal combat techniques have been modified a lot in karate to fit to the specifics of human body. The duck's wing attack to the viper's neck, for instance, became tahineri araiuke wich is mainly ... a parry!

I think you're misunderstanding it. You replace the ST roll with a ST-based skill roll, which is 100% the same as adding the skill's relative level to ST.

Your right, I was misunderstanding it.
In my defense I never used the perk, but I should have thought about it more carefully after rereading it.

That should presumably be "increases"? A higher number gives you a more reliable gun.

Yes, it should. Thanks for the catch.

Here we are ... I finally bought Pyramid 3/111 and read your article, Animal Combat Styles (quite rapidly; I will have to read it again, much more attentively and with Martial Arts - and some other books - at hand to really take benefit from it).

First of all, I have to say that it is an amazing work. I know that we are used to that with GURPS authors, but I still want to emphasize it.

It doesn't give any hint about human martial arts which comes from observation of animal combat techniques, but no matter. It it not the point. The point is to give detailed combat styles for animals' manner of fighting, with all relevant rules: Primary skills, Techniques and Perks (exactly as for human martial arts).

The classification is really helpful: Ambush Predators, Birds of Prey, Mounts, Pack Predators, Prey Animals, Rushing or Stalking Predators. It allows to cover about any animal. And, of course, at the end of the article, we can find the descriptions of the 10 new techniques which can be used for other kinds of characters ...

Brief, thanks to that article, the GM's animals will do much more than contenting themselves of attacking and dodging. By the way, the GM will learn a lot of things about them, as I did, which will allow him to make them much more living and memorable ...

A must-have.

Thank you for the compliment and review!
That is exactly what I intended for the article, seems like all those Youtube videos paid off <g>.
