Company introduces individual wheel motors for electric cars
Wheel motors and electrics. Just like Car Wars envisioned decades ago.

Re: Company introduces individual wheel motors for electric cars
It's a really interesting consideration to figure out if it is more practical to pair a single powerful electric motor and provide stability control through an ABS system like many of our modern-day gas vehicles or by using the individual electric motors at each wheel.
I wonder what the weight/cost of ABS at each wheel would be with a single large electric motor vs individual motors per wheel and no ABS components. I would think that the rear wheel motors would be more powerful than the front ones for the best drivability. With traditional stability control it regulates the power only through the limitation of power to a certain wheel. With the per-wheel electric motors you can apply individual acceleration or braking which seems more flexible and would give the pro driver more options in maneuvering. Perhaps you can also use the electric motor as the mechanism to prevent wheel lockup under hard braking in place of the ABS system. In a combat situation I can see having multiple motors another advantage in the event one of them were damaged you still have power available to navigate. Some of the impressive handling characteristics also make sense considering the low center of gravity having a battery pack spanning the floorboard. -jake |

Re: Company introduces individual wheel motors for electric cars
How about hydrogen powered cars that charge electric batteries to be used as energy. Hydrogen, with nuclear, wind solar and hydroelectric power, would give the world a cheap energy source for which the world of Car Wars would evolve into and peace would rule the earth. Nice, huh? :)
