Launch of new stealth destroyer with Ogre-verse guns
I'm actually more interested in the ship, but check out the AGS weapons it will be armed with.
http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2013/1...yer/?hpt=hp_t2 It would have had vertical barrels but that would have limited it to guided munitions, so they put them in turrets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Gun_System

Z-Boat
2xMHWZ guns: 6/6 2xmissile batteries: 3/4 2xAP 1/1 60 Structure points, starting move 3 20x move drops to 2 (Each weapon takes a 1-2 attack) 20x move drops to 1 (Each weapon takes a 1-1 attack) 20x sinks Can only move on water, and if it takes a big ocean wave from the rear it will flip over and turn into a U-boat.

I would be surprised if this new vessel didn't have the limited ability to slip under the waves - if only for about 20 feet.

The "Tumble-Over" hull will take it all the way to the bottom. That's why it's a near shore specialist.
BTW: At 610 feet, even a 285th "Ogre-scale" model would be over two feet long. (Talk about a big game box!) A much closer match to the game would be a Pegasus-class hydrofoil: Atk 3/4, D 2, M 4 (on water only), 1 armor unit. A five and half inch long model in scale.

What about the AGS makes you think that it's OGRE-verse like? They aren't coilguns, and the munitions are going to generally be HE and variants. Ogre guns are coilguns and the munitions are SATNUCs (basically nuclear ICM), right?

The Ogre canon that all munitions are guided and the guns don't need to point even in the general direction of the target.

That's not true of the AGS, though (anymore than it is of any other modern howitzers which can fire rocket-assisted and guided munitions), is it?

Re: Launch of new stealth destroyer with Ogre-verse guns
That was the point of the original 'vertical barrel' design. It only needed a turret so it could use 'non guided' munitions. A fixed vertical barrel could be imbedded in the hull, making it less vulnerable to damage. At this point, though, I wonder why they bother calling them 'guns' at all. If you make any significant deviation from the original flight path you kill the high V advantage of using a gun.
