Default Tough sledding in the toy biz

Hasbro has announced lower than expected earnings, and Mattel did the same earlier in the year.

That's to be expected in a tough economy, but I sure wish it were otherwise. If the big players were doing well, there'd be more opportunity for the little players (such as our favorite game company, SJG), too.

It's true. In this time of diminished expectations kids have gone back to olde-fashioned toys, like paper dolls, pointy sticks, and stray cats with tin cans tied to their tails.

Whoever makes an app for those may as well have a license to print money.

Ah, a 'phone game based on The Wasp Factory. Somehow, I don't think Apple would distribute it.
