Mecha Operations vs. Modular Mecha
Pyramid #3/40 has an article in it by Kenneth Peters called Mecha Operations: "these options push the GURPS Spaceships design system into new robotic realms."
Pyramid #3/51 has an article in it by David Pulver called Modular Mecha: "It uses the GURPS Spaceships foundation to make quick-and-easy ridable robots." How do these differ from each other? |

Modular Mecha uses pre-built mecha frames that you plug options into it. It's a quick-and-dirty design system that doesn't need Spaceships and can stand by itself. Spaceships + Mecha Operations is best if you want to handle the full range of mecha types and want some design tweaks and ideas to help handle more cinematic mecha performance (e.g. Macross, Transformers). Modular Mecha is best if you want a drop-in system for TL9-10 mecha that is super easy to use but gives you game-relevant stats that won't be too whacky compared to GURPS Mecha or Spaceships mecha designs. But get both issues :) Edit: And check this thread for some of the extra designs that didn't fit into the Mecha Ops article (http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread...ighlight=mecha) Last edited by Tzeentch; 05-24-2013 at 11:47 AM. |
