Re: Price of Aluminum of Yrth?
Yeah, that. Would you allow a functional wooden axe (made with Essential Wood and Shatterproof) to be made into a Staff? If not, that aluminum axe isn't going to work either. If so, then the Essential Wood is probably cheaper and better anyway.

Make a shark-tooth macuahuitl instead of one with obsidian chips. Or use expensive gemstones as your cutting surface. That should also be valid for the Staff enchantment.

Re: Price of Aluminum of Yrth?
One of the problems with macuahuitl is that the blades tend to break or fall off when it's used. This isn't really a problem for the weapon, per se, in that they are relatively cheap and easy to make and repair. It is, however, a problem for an enchanted weapon in that the enchantment tends to dissipate when the weapon breaks. Staff is cheap enough to be able to re-enchant such a weapon whenever you needed to, but it would still be inconvenient.

The staff already does Swing +2 Crush and Mages that have significant investments in ST and skill to gain much from the +50% damage after armor absorption aren't going to be common though. I think the OP may just be trying to get something for nothing.

And to be a bit munchkiny, if you sandwiched a katana inside a bokken with the edge exposed...

....it would break people's skin and make shallow cuts only. It'd probably still break the "rod-shaped" clause too.

Heck there's no actual rule that says the Staff actually has to be elongated, it could be a 2 yard sphere as far as the rules care |

Look, if this was possible, the Knights Templar would absolutely already be doing this, ergo it isn't possible in Yrth. This is definitely one of those things that is so obvious it either needs to already exist or be impossible. You can't "invent" something that is as simple as "put an expensive poll on it" because any idiot could have tried this a thousand years before you were born. Quote:
