Default Which go and which stay?

A few weeks ago, SJG posted:

"The shift in the market affected our "keep it in print!" approach to Munchkin games and expansions, and we're now starting to let some of the slower sellers fade into out-of-print status. We would rather keep the Munchkin games and expansions available at all times -- it is frustrating when a Munchkin fan is forced to spend five, ten, or twenty times MSRP on eBay to get a game they want -- but declining sales volumes do not mesh well with holding inventory. We will try to keep the top ten or so Munchkin games and expansions available at all times, but everything else will see out-of-stock times . . . or simply go away for the immediate future." (see: http://www.sjgames.com/general/stakeholders/ ) for more info....

OK - Is there a beta list of the games that are going to be allowed to go out of print? I'd sure like an opportunity to hit up my FLGS for an extra copy..... before the inevitable rise in price that out-of-print items get on ebay.....

We're still working out the precise details, but I think you can safely assume that older sets -- other than classic, Star, Cthulhu, and Zombies, which already have reprints on the schedule -- are unlikely to be reprinted very quickly.

Tuckbox expansions to sets other than the original game will REALLY have to justify themselves to merit a reprint. Right now, maybe one or two of them are in that category. Mini-expansions (15-30 cards) are all on the "do not reprint" list, as are Game Changes, Hidden Treasures, and Holiday Surprise for at least the next year, probably 18 months or more.

Shifting priorities - especially work on the Collectible Card Game and ramping up Car Wars development again, plus new Munchkin projects (many of which we haven't announced yet) - are cutting into the time and resources required to keep the entire Munchkin line available. Narrowing our focus allows us to be a lot more canny about what we DO keep in print or bring out for the first time, without wondering how badly we're competing with ourselves.

OK - That helps a bit. If you ever come even close to a post for Munchkni games that are going out-of-print, please let everyone on this forum post know.

In tomorrow's Munchkin News, I go into some more details about this topic. (No April Foolin'!)
