Re: Quirks, Non Quirks & general silliness .

"Won't use optical or digital media" or "Keeps talking about his Betamax" are both good alternatives. The first quirk cuts the character off from Youtube, news streamed over the internet, and missions delivered by optical disk. The second quirk doesn't prevent the character from using more common media, but they're mildly annoying and give a -1 to reaction penalties sometimes.

I can repair many models of VCR . I'd have no clue with DVD Players apart from getting the loading tray unstuck ...

Re: Quirks, Non Quirks & general silliness .
I want Quirks to mean something, they must be somehow and sometimes relevant to gameplay.
But in a group with 6 players wich 5 Quirks each it mustn't be overpowering. We accept light versions of Disadvantages as Quirks I play in a Pulp campaign, where my Texan explorer "Tex" has a rival scientist, taken as a 1 point Enemy. He hasn't appeared yet, but Tex expects him to be behind all sorts of stuff. He also has a light tobacco addiction for -1 points. Because in the 20s a lot of people smoked, but I don't want it to be a full addiction disadvantage. But I often spend a few seconds lighting a smoke, rather than doing something useful, even during 'action time'. I added weight for tobacco on my equipment list, and if we're stuck somewhere we can't replenish Tex gets annoyed when he runs out. If we find an enemy camp or capture enemies he'll search for smokes. I can't remember other characters' quirks, except that the Russian chemistry professor always calls shotgun in cars, and will argue for his right to that seat. The Portuguese magician insists on gun safety and unloads bullets from the chamber of other characters' guns when they aren't carrying them. So whenever a character uses a gun, which has been left unattended near the magician, it needs a ready action to fire. He doesn't empty them, you just need to chamber a round before shooting. Can't remember if that is a quick, a disadvantage, or just the player being a pain - I actually think it's the latter.

Re: Quirks, Non Quirks & general silliness .
A few more that came up this week :
• Almost always smells of mothballs . When on few occasions doesn't smell of mothballs , seems to smell of kippers instead (smoked fish) - despite only eating red meat ... • Is 'leading' supporter of the God of Apathy - despite no one else knowing , has no personal or general effects on the game mechanics ( Disc World ) . • Has a suspiciously anatomically correct stuffed Ewok secreted at their residence ... ... 8-| • Avoids cracks it the pavement/sidewalk when possible . • Brown hair , black eyebrows , grey beard with odd redhair when unshaven . ( Based on a real person ) . • uncomfortable writing in black ink - blue ink or black pencil both fine ... ( another real life example ... ) . [EDIT] Not sure if someone is pranking me , but had an email suggesting " ... that I'd best not use offensive terms like kipers (sic) or you will get a ban ... " ?? No idea where you are coming from there , as in Britain & many other places Kippers are smoked Herrings : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kipper They may very well be thinking I'm try offend objects in the Kiper* Belt ? ( *Kuiper Belt of course - but I do wonder if places like Discworld DO indeed have a Kipper Belt ... those fish have to go somewhere ... )

Re: Quirks, Non Quirks & general silliness .
Regularly disarms dangerous devices personally as if there was no such thing as robots
Thinks his Swiss Army Knife is sufficient EOD equipment Abuses his Swiss Army Knife in a manner no one would treat a pig of good family Snatches companions cell phones to make into improvised equipment Thinks his agency has no equipment of it's own Exposits to companions on random subjects Always behaves like boy scout when not on the job. Has a peculiar dislike for firearms despite having no problem with doing harm to people Guess who I'm thinking of?

I was thinking of the reboot, never got into the original.
