Re: Kickstarter - Ogre Miniatures Set 1
The latest update over on KS has me really excited for these. The paint job is far beyond what I would ever do, but man, they do look good.

Yes, they look amazing. A couple of the units are hard to believe they are actually real minis because the paint job is so clean.

Re: Kickstarter - Ogre Miniatures Set 1
It drives me absolutely crazy that every highlight and shadow you see on the new minis was painted on, and is not from the lights.
But, even without the great paint jobs, I have to say I really like the new sculpts. The Ogres are taller, and that they seem a hair shorter is no loss at all. |

I wish I could paint like that. I wish I could paint at all.

Re: Kickstarter - Ogre Miniatures Set 1
Painting should not be scary. Anyone can get good results with a little practice drybrushing.
1. Basecoat (spyaypaint) black 2. Put paint on brush and rub on paper or cardboard until almost dry 3. Lightly pass brush over mini leaving low points black 4. Add white to original color and repeat 5. Repeat above if wanted 6. Add details if wanted should be able to do 12/hr or so |

Re: Kickstarter - Ogre Miniatures Set 1
I've been painting for about 30 years now. I'm (not actually) angry about just how good those miniatures look, is all.

Well, yeah, me too... That painted on shadowing is like, really small and really steady. I console myself with thoughts like "well, he probably spends hours on each one" and "well, someone has to be the Michael Phelps of painting"... That highlight across the HOW base was really boldly conceptualized and well executed.

Re: Kickstarter - Ogre Miniatures Set 1
Very nice! A different technique, and one that any of us should be able to achieve.
