Two yes, but there's a lot to be said for the triangular '3' (every other dot on the outer rim of the megahex). A diagonal three is good, too, but the triangular one plays up the hex more.

If we did that, then an alternative 4 would be the triangular 3 with the center hex also filled in (like this). Wanders further away from the traditional d6 layout into more 3-way symmetry (the 1, 3, 4, and 6).

Either way, I think the megahex dice will have to take the place of the 6 white d6s in my TFT set (currently Illuminati Pyramids).

whether it is diagonal depends on how the die landed.
Relative to the square face of the die, much like the traditional two pips on a d6.

Yeah, that's even cooler yet!

Yes, this is what I was trying to describe.

I'd certainly want some megahex dice either way, provided they're actually indented hexes, but would prefer Anarxes pattern changes.

If they're silkscreened on, no way.

Thanks for the compliments. Here's a couple of variants of the megahex pattern for review. (And another link to the previous design and Phil's original just for convenience.)

It occurred to me that the 3-4 change I made has a nice property that the 2-5 did not share, but the 1-6 already had. (In fact, I flipped the 4 from my first attempt just to give it this property.) That is, the faces that sum to 7 are inverses of each other, so the pair of faces together use all 7 hexes in the megahex.
You probably already know that it's traditional for the opposite faces of a dN to sum to N+1. This inverse business is sort the visual version of that. Intellectually appealing, but I'm not sure which one looks the best.

There's two ways to give the 2-5 that property. In this new image, "Square" refers to 2-5 faces that are aligned with the square sides of the d6 (so the 5 is closer to the traditional 5-pip pattern); "Diagonal" refers to 2-5s oriented along the diagonal of the face, so the 2 has the traditional pip pattern, but the 5 becomes canted. (There are more than two ways, of course, but they get less symmetrical.)

(Personally, I'm kind of fond of Square just because it echoes that charmingly awkward TFT quirk of forcing traditionally square dungeon rooms into a megahex. But Phil's original is the best for that -- changing the 3 and 4 at all moves away. Diagonal is just that much more different from the traditional d6, so that pattern has a smidgeon more novelty for your cool new dice and feels a little more consistently different to me. And the 5 being askew lets me keep one little quirk :))

Ultimately it's up to Phil and the rest of the SJG team, of course. But some free focus group research never hurts :)

I found a kickstarted for what they call DoubleSix dice, d12s with 1-6 twice.

Here is a link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ublesix%20dice

I really like the new version. They would definitely be distinctive for TFT.

Just for giggles, here’s a megahex-spotted die designed to as closely resemble a standard Western casino die as possible. Call it a “traditional” megahex die.

That looks like it has two fives and no six.

Yes, two 5s, but I get the idea. I think that's the clearest so far.
