Default The Dragon's Trap Stuff For Dungeon Fantasy

OK, Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap was released on the Sega Master System, a squeal to Wonder Boy (2): Monster Land, it has recently been remade as Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap for most modern systems.

In it you play as the titular Wonder Boy, who in his quest to free the people of the land in the last game, slays the evil MEKA Dragon. Unfortunately the MEKA Dragon manages to curse you, turning you from hu-man to lizard-man. From there you must quest to kill five more dragons, gaining 4 more form-changing curses before finally managing to remove them all. All-in-all a great way to turn one quest into several for a DF game, hopefully you can see why I'd want to raid it for ideas.

Canonical forms are:
Lizard-Man: breathes fire, but can't use sword and shield.
Mouse-Man: Half size (reduced reach and damage, but some enemies shoot over his head and can fit in smaller spaces), cling to walls.
Piranha-Man: Normal-size, can swim (Others walk along sea floor)
Lion-Man: Increased strength and likeability, can attack enemies both above and below
Hawk-Man: Can fly.

About halfway through the game you gain access to several rooms that allow you to change which curse is active, allowing access to additional areas, I'm not sure if to model this with traits, or even if I need to.

I'm thinking have the party fight one dragon and have it curse/turn them all to Lizard-Men, to set off the campaign. While their cursed however they can't interact with civilized society and must work with seedier characters, like eye-patch wearing pig-men shopkeepers.

Additionally there are several items you encounter on your quest:
Universal key: Will open any door (or presumably other lock), but only works once. Probably exists to avoid having multiple key objects.
Ruby: Makes people like you more, allowing you to buy better stuff and increase drops, not sure how to model this
Life potion: Raise dead in potion form.

'Sub'-weapons: (This is apparently what they're called, now at least)
Fireball: Sent three(?) fireballs zizaging in front of you, above and below, could pass through solid substances. Fire jet attack?
Tornado: Runs along the ground for a while, hurts enemies, bounces off them and obstacles. Not sure how to handle this one.
Arrow: Shot straight up to damage flying enemies. Thinking throwable, long range arrow
Lightning: Damaged all enemies on screen. Area effect damage.
Boomerang: Only reusable one, acted like standard cinematic boomerang and collected drops, even if you didn't catch it and lost it.

Three swords are also of note:
Thunder: Could destroy certain blocks.
Magical: Could make destroyable blocks in certain locales
Tasmanian (remake only): Same effect as curse changing rooms, but in easy access sword form. Once the party is able to lift the curses this would simply be Alternate Form with Gadget, but before that?

So would anyone here be interested in playing a game with that as it's premise? Would it be fun? Any suggestions?
