We're going to have to agree to disagree. Using Variable Enhancement is just so much cleaner than CMA in my opinion.

Possibly. However, I don't happen to own that one, and CMA, to me, seems fitting for a permanent effect. Variable Enhancement probably works better for temporary, though.
