Default Lamashtu will not persue question

One of our player was level two when he encountered the lamashtu. this monster card states "will not persue lvl 5 or below", but it also allows other players to each add a monster to it. My question is whether the other monsters can be put down when first monster does not persue the player. In our situation the player did not need to run away from lamashtu but he had to run away from 3 monsters that other players put down. (ended up dead) I just wonder if this should have happened or not, thanks.

"Will not pursue" does not mean "will not fight." It means if you have to Run Away, you may do so without rolling, automatically avoiding the Bad Stuff. If the player did not say he was Running Away, he was still in combat, and adding more monsters was a legal play.

So that means if the player said " im running away" before anyone can put anything, the combat is over and he could run away? so it all comes down to the timing? thanks!

Pretty much, yeah.

I am assuming the player was winning against Lamashtu alone, and therefore would not be allowed to run away.

No. Reread the original question before commenting, please.
