Sources for one-yard hex maps of modern locations
Looking through my GURPS PDFs, surprisingly few have hex maps of modern locations suitable for running tactical combat. So far, the ones I can find are in Metro of Madness, Layer of the Fat Man, and the Pyramid issue on "Cinematic Locations"—but the latter only has a map of one such location, a small submarine barely large enough to be the site of any significant action. The rest of the locations in that issue had maps, but not hex maps. What sources am I overlooking? Simple things like a map of a bar or a diner could be really useful.

Re: Sources for one-yard hex maps of modern locations
Googling for "dinner floorplan" and adding an hex grid manually with photoshop or any free alternative is a solution, not perfect but a solution.
I usually prefer drawing on a chessex mat, but it does take more time at the table. |

Re: Sources for one-yard hex maps of modern locations
To be clear, I don't care about a diner specifically. Just modern locations that might plausibly be the site of an action movie brawl. Churches. Department stores. Whatever. And I know I could do something like what you describe, I'm just trying to see what exists for use with the minimum of effort.

Sprawl Sites for first edition Shadowrun had a number of mundane location maps: bus station, hospital, stores, offices, etc. You'll have to add your own hex grid, but it's a start.

Re: Sources for one-yard hex maps of modern locations
I know I'm low-tech, but I made some overhead transparencies (remember those?) of hex grids a while ago. I can then get a well-scaled map of whatever I want and paperclip the hex grid to the top. For bonus points, I can draw on it with the right kind of markers.

I generally create a template using a unit circle in MSPaint and use pattern fill in GIMP.
Just use a template like this and it tiles neatly into a hex grid: Code:
_ _/ \ \ /

Re: Sources for one-yard hex maps of modern locations
Pyramid #1/119 has a hex map of a farmhouse! This increases my sources for maps of modern locations by 33%!
Edit: Pyramid #1/121 has a shady medical clinic. Edit 2: Pyramid #1/31 has the offices of a waste processing facility and some secret tunnels nearby. The industrial part of the facility is mapped, but not with hexes. Edit 3: Pyramid #3/42 has a night club! Now there's my classic action fight location. No hex grids but Modern Floorplans over on RPGNow has pdf maps with plain and grid pages. I wonder ho they would work if you printed them and then put them back in and printed a hex grid. Or use a overlay.

Pyramid #3/88: The End is Nigh has a highway patrol station—or at least what's left of it post apocalypse. I think with a bit of modification it could be used for a pre-apocalyptic game. And that's all I can find in the issues of Pyramid I own, but my collection is not complete.
