Cool! I like to use a lighter adhesive, like a glue stick, so the paper can be re-positioned when you first put it down. Laminating makes it water proof, gives a uniformly smooth surface and keeps the corners from coming up over time. If it's too much hassle, you can just print and stick down new pages as they wear out.

I'm glad you like it.

I've been doing the following for maps in Ogre:

1) go to the dollar store and buy clear adhesive shelving paper
2) roll it out stickyside up and put the map face down on the paper without crinkling it
3) back it with another sheet of clear adhesive, leaving a small border with no paper so that the adhesive bonds to itself.

Works fine. You end up with a tough, rollable map.

That's clever! Someday I want to have one printed on a banner (without grommets) and see how that works.

Finally finished my ODE-scale Icepick map. I followed your advice & used a glue stick ( first time ever). It worked very well. The low initial tack allowed me to fine-tune the alignment to get all the hexes matched up properly.
I laminated it with Duck peel & stick. I got one very small wrinkle in one edge, otherwise it came out great. I was initially a little skeptical of the foam-core/ glue-stick method, but it gave very good results, especially for a first attempt. The map looks good, is lightweight & should be reasonably durable. Looking forward to finally playing Icepick after all these years...

Thanks again for all your support!

I hope you enjoy it. I used to be picky about the maps, but once you start playing a real game, the imperfections don't matter because you're too busy playing Ogre!

I'm actually considering designing a map, and then asking my friendly local printer to see if he can print it on a game-mat. I had him do some star mats (for a rather well known SW combat game) and some sea mats too, and they came out fine for usual use. Thanks for a great design package.

The clear adhesive shelving paper is great. It's not as reflective as the glossy laminate so it works better under lights. It's easy to work with and inexpensive. I made my own map for use with Triplanetary and wet erase markers. It works a treat.

Thanks for the idea!

Cool! If you do it, please post a picture.
