Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
At this point, you really ought to wait for 6E, and start building terrain appropriate to the new edition.
Believe me, I know that it sucks to have to wait till the summer, but you can pick up and customize the odd HO-scale car or truck to keep you occupied in the meantime. :) |

Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
The way I see it, you have a couple options with 6E in terms of miniatures:

Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
I was just listing 5e scale as a for instance...
I just wanted to know if 1/87 was indeed the scale they were going to shoot for! Incidentally, I have a chunk of 1" thick by 2' by 2' foam; is that too small for an arena? SteveN Last edited by snate56; 01-06-2017 at 12:10 AM. |

Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
For the new edition, yes, the scale is 1:87 (HO).
However, regardless of what edition you're playing, it's pretty easy to translate into 1:43, 1:64 (Matchbox), 1:87 or whatever. |

Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
I suspect that 2' x 2' might be a bit on the small side- 1/87 is about 2x the size of Classic's scale. It would be the equivalent of using a 1' square area in Classic - roughly the size of a single City Blocks tile. I suspect that you could probably play, but it would be tight, which could cause speed and maneuvering to be limited. (This is speculation on my part based on earlier editions and typical space used - I haven't gotten to play yet).

I believe the playmats seen in the photographs are 3' x 3'

Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
I agree that 2 x 2' sounds a bit small (unless you're looking for a knife fight all the time).
3 x 3' sounds about right. More than that and there's to much wasted approach time. |

Re: Car Wars 5e Vehicle Design
That might depend on how many players too. 3' x 3' would be a bit crowded with 8 I suspect.
