Default Which of these technologies would be the HARDESt for a scientist in Star Wars to do?

Ive revised my list. Which would a challenge for a Star Wars scientist to create?

1.) SQUID-like device -
https://www.engadget.com/2009/07/31/...-strange-days/

Scroll down for SQUID

2.) Mind scanner- Basically something that can scan a beings mind and dissect information in it.

3.) Programmable matter-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claytronics

4.) Prototrophic beings- Genetically engineer a being to produce its own food energy

5.) Nucleon chemistry- Chemistry at quark level

6.)Mass formula-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_formula

7.) Personalized advertising- Digital Advertisement boards that read your mind and advertise things you would like. May not be a good idea

8.) XNA therapy- Artificial DNA therapy

9.) Intention decoding algorithm- Something a droid might have in its sensors or a being with a HUD that can determine what someone will do. Useful for physical confrontations.

10.)Ablative laser propulsion-Ablative laser propulsion (ALP) is a form of beam-powered propulsion in which an external pulsed laser is used to burn off a plasmaplume from a solid metal propellant, thus producing thrust. The measured specific impulse of small ALP setups is very high at about 5000 s (49 kNs/kg), and unlike the lightcraft developed by Leik Myrabo which uses air as the propellant, ALP can be used in space.

11.) Mechanosynthesis-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanosynthesis

12.) Memory RNA pill- "skill pills" containing memory RNA that provided the consumer with new skills

13.) Atmosphere bubble tent- Something you can use to survive on airless or toxic world

14.) 4D material- A 4-dimensional material

15.)Diamond battery-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_battery

16.)Cortical modem-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cortical_modem

17.) Graser cannon- Weaponized gamma ray laser. More powerful than a laser.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma-ray_laser

18.)Data science to predict crimes- Predict crimes by studying data

19.) Brain implant for musical ability- Brain implant that allows you to have musical talent

20.)Self-repairing alloy- Metal that repairs itself. Do we already have this?

21.) Nanomorph-robot entirely made of nanomachines

22.)Metaceutical- Medicine created from completely fabricated molecules

23.) Argon matrix laser- Laser weapon that only damages inorganic material

24.) Trans-galactic telescope- See things in other galaxies

25.) Solution to Black Hole Information Paradox-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole_information_paradox

26.)Upload fake memories into a being's brain- Give someone a new life

27.)Spinning black hole- Enter one to time travel. Confirmed to time travel

28.) Thought camera- Camera that can take pictures of individual thoughts

29.) Hyperbrain computer- A computer that resides in hyperspace.

30.) Thought recognition- Computer that activates with the owner's thought

31.) Magnetic monopole rocket- Propulsion based on energy from magnetic monopoles

32.) Artificial magnetosphere-

https://phys.org/news/2017-03-nasa-m...tmosphere.html

33.) Xaser weapon- X-ray laser weapon

34.) Molectronics- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecular_electronics

Items 2 and 28 might be special-case hard in the SW universe, because thhe nature of biological minds seems to be closely linked to the Force. So trying to read mind by purely mechanistic means might be tricky. It might work, but incompletely, you might get only those aspects of thought are are physically based, or the data might make no sense interpreted mechanistically.

Just about any one of those could be impossible in Star Wars, or already well known and just never mentioned. The thing to keep in mind is that Star Wars is not really science fiction. It's fantasy adventure with a different color palette. You might as well ask "which of the following spells would be most difficult in the Hogwarts setting?"

It's canon that the factories that produce repulsorlift and hyperdrive devices are in the close vicinity of black holes, using the properties of the event horizon to create those devices. So 25 and 27 are certain.

Nucleon chemistry is an impossibility because chemistry depends on the exchange of electrons. Quark engineering would probably be the better term, though I do not see the utility of such things other than finding novel ways of killing oneself through exotic radiation.

The only thing I can imagine quark engineering would be good for would be building exotic elements. If there is an "island of stability" you could imagine super-heavy elements being important raw materials.

Of course, that's assuming the Star Wars universe run by our physics, which it clearly doesn't.

Nor is it enough that he should hear the opinions of adversaries from his own teachers, presented as they state them, and accompanied by what they offer as refutations. He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them...he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Speaking of which, IIRC J.K. Rowling did post some rules for things that magic can't do in the Potterverse - has Lucas done the same for Starwars?

The only firm rule I can remember ever hearing is "No Jedi Wookiees." Apparently, one of the novels introduced one, he didn't like it (for whatever random reason), and he declared that anything with a Wookiee Jedi was non-canon.

Of course, the personal preferences of George Lucas now have zero bearing on what is and isn't canon.

And then Clone Wars gave us a Wookiee Padawan (though by that time it was very unlikely the cub survived Order 66).

The only thing that appears to be a no-no is "never give Yoda's species a name or homeworld", even with additional members of Yoda's species out there in various works (including Master Yaddle on the Jedi Council in The Phantom Menace). No clue if The Mandalorian is going to give us additional clues with Baby Yoda's starring role.

As for what the Force cannot do, I don't think there was ever any limitations Lucas himself declared. Time travel has been an unspoken thing in the past, but there are cases in the EU and season 4 of Rebels where that happened, albeit under highly unique circumstances.

I don't know why they call him baby Yoda. The Mandalorian takes place after The Return of the Jedi, which is after Yoda died. I have no idea why George Lucas won't tell anyone what species Yoda is.
