To be fair, the issues with ranged combat came up primarily as a complaint of my spellcasters using Ranged spells, and the wild boasts of the main tank in the group...

Ranged spells are somewhat famously...mostly not that great.

Yeah... I had some nagging troubles with GURPS Magic that I was having a hard time putting my finger on. After reading over some threads here, more experienced minds have started to help me specify those problems. I think I'll be investing in RPM soon...

Okay everyone. But if firing a bow 6 feet has only a 50% chance of success, then you must roll for walking a straight line on anything but perfectly flat paved cement.
What would be trivial for skilled people then? Would simply picking the thing up without dropping it be?

The 6ft 50% chance is assuming Skill 10 which is amateur level taking an unaimmed shot. The same amateur can shoot 60ft with an 3 second aimed shot going all out with the same odds.
a Green Pro with Skill 12 is taking the same shot at 150 ft

This Does Not Follow. Sometimes, some things are harder than others, and most things are skills that you have to learn, yes even walking. It's just that walking you get a lot of practice doing, so it's baked into your character sheet, and is a Disadvantage if you can't.
We have about four and a half billion years of evolution put into walking and it still takes a year to start doing with any success rate at all, and probably five or so years before you start being surprised when a kid just falls over for no reason.
Why do you think humans have some sort of weird inbuilt ability to use a bow? Most people I've seen use a bow for the first time don't shoot the arrow at all - they tend to drop it, squirt it out in some weird direction, or just whack themselves in the arm with the bowstring. Or break the toy bow.

I shoot from default so must have a skill below 10, yet I simply will not miss from 6 feet unless someone is actively shoving me or I get some weird unpredictable muscle spasm. That's just my height away. That's literally right in front of me.

I don't see how. It's a super simple object at its base if difficult to use with great accuracy or rapidity.
Even if I have some kind of talent, I have not spent hundreds of hours practicing to result in even a single point spent.
My arms don't lock so aiming a full strength bow would likely make my accuracy worse though.

I can do that and there's no way I'm using anything other than default from a not so nice Dexterity score.
I would bet if you had to take the shot right now or end up impaled on a spear, your shot would end up about half a radian away from where you intended. Even with a shotgun (much easier to point and aim) against deer (so no mortal danger to me, more so for the deer), when I need to take a shot immediately to bag a nice whitetail that suddenly burst unexpectedly from cover at close range (and then vanishes into dense brush after one or two bounds - less than a second), I basically never hit - and when I can see the puff of dust or dirt from the impact, it is not unusual to be about half a radian off. I can only imagine with a bow it would be worse. This is, of course, completely opposite my experience shotgunning stationary targets or clay pigeons where I can convince myself that I am a crack shot.

TDMs. Known distance, no risk, etc.
