Reach and parrying

I was looking at LTC2 and for scaling up a sword I ended up with reach 2-4 does that affect the ability to pary against someone 1 hex away?

Also when scaling up does the inability to strike at that 1 hex reange represent that the grip takes up more of the length or is there more to it

You can always parry an attack that hits you, regardless of the reach of the weapon.

Although it does give a greater penalty to attempt to parry someone in CC with you. But not more than a reach 1-4 weapon though.
