KROMM is one who is dedicated to rooting out all fault in the Work of Steve Jackson Games (which I shall hereafter refer to as the Holy Product, unless I forget). To do this he must stand vigilant against fault in others and himself, and this is why, if he was ever faulty, he has now become faultless.

Let's talk deductive reasoning.

The existence of a supreme truth is not necessary for it to be possible to recognise faulty arguments. Logic and mathematics are human constructs and therefore do not depend on any ultimate truths. If the rules are followed, the conclusions will be correct for the context.

Therefore, a properly formed logical argument will be recognised as properly formed regardless of personal bias and a logical fallacy seen as such.

Your personal view of the number 4 does not influence your ability to see that 2+3=4 is false.

The same goes for the argument:

KROMM dislikes XY.
XY is made up of the words X and Y.
Therefore KROMM dislikes Y.

The conclusion is not necessitated from the premises, ergo the argument is not logical.

I really don't mean to sound belligerent or hostile, and in fact, I'm used to discussions with people who are able to admit that they are not infallible and are pleased when their mistakes are pointed out. They might be chargrined at having made the mistake, but no adult would ever dream of blaming another person for that. It's better to look stupid once and be able to better next time than to look stupid for all time.

A wise man once said: "Everyone is entitled to his own opinions, but not his own facts." ;)

It all comes down to the way the truth is conveyed to them.

Clearly KROMM is faultless and incapable of committing errors. Clearly he is the GURPS Line Editor. And clearly the GURPS books contain errors. This may seem like a paradox, but it's really not. The errors are there on purpose.

They are there to teach us to be sharp of eye and quick of e-mail. They are there to teach us not to expect perfection in this world. They are there to teach us patience with those who share this world with us, for not all can be as flawless as KROMM.

So, brethren, cease your bickering and join me in a prayer to the Great Line Editor.

If you make his head swell from all the compliments like those - will his glasses break and fall to the ground?

Yeah - he is a very good game author and all ...but c'mon.

Sean , does this stuff make you blush or anything like that?

A Klingon asked KROMM: "Does GURPS have Buddha-nature?"
In answer, KROMM shouted: "MU!", and hit the Klingon in the head with the Basic Set: Characters.
The Klingon was then Enlightened.

Cheers,

M.

KROMM is of such a nature as to understand the HIGHER PURPOSE of this thread.

It is for the edification of all who post and read within it.

It is a common mistake to believe that KROMM is great. He is not - he is the definition of greatness.

Not so, not so! For though Hackard was mighty as the managing editor, who held in his hands the holy CONTRACTS, it was Kromm, the mighty, Kromm, the brave, who did line edit the products of GURPS - lo, even in the days of Hackard.
