Default Trapped Chest and curses?

We need some help with the rules of the Trapped Chest card. The text of the Trapped Chest card says that it may be played when someone is looting the room along with a monster. The card that was drawn from looting the room must be given to the player that is trapping the chest and the monster played must be fought instead.

The question is, what if the card that was drawn while looting the room is a curse? Because curses can be played at any time, can the player that drew the curse simply use it instead of surrendering it to the player that subsequently trapped the chest? Thanks for any help!

The simplest way to think about it is you can't play the curse card because it's not yours to play; you are still in the process of resolving the draw action at the time. Regardless what card is drawn, it must be given to the Trapped Chest owner as soon as its drawn.

GranitePenguin is correct. The card drawn from Looting the Room must be given immediately to the person who plays Trapped Chest; there's no window where it can be played instead.

Thanks! So does this also imply that if, for example, a player is cursed with the lose two cards curse, and the player only has two cards, they can't instead use either of the cards if they are a curse? I think we're pretty fuzzy on the concept of being able to play a curse at any time, particularly coming from other games and the resolving of "instants", etc.

You must resolve the Curse before doing anything else (unless one of your cards is a Wishing Ring or has some other way of actually canceling a Curse). Other games have a "stack" of effects; Munchkin does not. Resolve each card as it is played.
