How useful is this for 4e games?

Re: [New Release] GURPS Classic: Robots
You could build robots under this system for consistency, then convert them to 4e stats, but I suspect it's more work than most GMs will want (about as much as designing Vehicles was). Swarms are in Ultra-Tech, though I don't think nanomorphs are in 4e in any detail, and bioroids are mostly in Bio-Tech which takes a slightly different approach. The game-mechanics material about handling robots in games is mostly updated in Ultra-Tech and WIll to Live. What's left is the campaign advice, which certainly isn't trivial, and the example designs, which will need converting (though some of them, because of their presence in Reign of Steel, are already converted in Will to Live).

Re: [New Release] GURPS Classic: Robots
There's also quite a lot of campaign support material in it that was not used elsewhere on running robot centered campaigns (and vignettes).
Plus probably very useful for supporting REIGN OF STEEL and helping you convert or make new designs that are compatible with the old ones in conjunction with the WILL TO LIVE upgrade.

Re: [New Release] GURPS Classic: Robots
I just discovered it's finally out and I'm scrambling to find a credit card that has $8 left on it after the holidays. I bought 3e Basic Set, Space, and Reign of Steel through e23 about five years ago and have been anxiously awaiting Robots' release! Yayz for The Robocalypse!
Edit: I notice David Pulver is here - allow me to take a moment to say a giant THANK YOU for all your work, I do believe I've come across your name several times over the years as involved with various things I've enjoyed! Cheers! |
