Hide, I'm really not comfortable GMing through the commission of blatant War Crimes without confounding factors. Killing unarmed prisoners locked up in a secure part of the ship feels an awful like that to me.

I didn’t see that way. I had the impression that you were hinting there was a traitor, an enemy that resisted Daymar’s power.

If this is not the case, then we can leave the prisoners gagged and handcuffed somewhere safe, and I can gladly edit Pacifica’s actions.

Despite being an assassin and having been specifically designed to kill people, Pacifica has been avoiding killing people; she even sought after Zybo so, this “war crime” allegation regarding Pacifica’s actions is awkward.

Just a moment ago, a crewmen fired a shot and now the team must leave to contact Daymar.

Between 4-6 people were detained, and that is about the size of Pacifica’s unit. The Dread Stormers were not taking all the prisoners with them, because there could have been runners.

If they were not dealt with, somebody could go check the status of their fellows because of the shooting, find them captive, and (at least) learn the size of the force coming at them, the number of guns carried and, potentially, uncover the identity of the subverted and their sections (which also reveals the fallen sections). Most probably, the captives would not remain silent after being rescued by their allies.

The unit was ready to kill the enemies, but an allied crew suggests not killing them and then saves their lives, going against the "commanders' orders". These actions looked like an enemy strategy.

Finally, the alleged traitor could shoot Pacifica’s team and mess with the operation.

Do you need me to do a bunch of rolling to convert prisoners, or can we just take it as given at this point?

What would that entail?

I'm feeling pretty done with this game, I'm ready to move on from this character.

Mind control has been very effective but not terribly exciting, if I had known from the outset that our characters would not be earning character points and evolving over time I might have made some different choices.

It's been an interesting campaign, and I thank ericthered for all the work he's put into it, but I'm not really onboard with anything that is going to stretch the game out much longer.

There is not a traitor... at least not without killing the captured prisoners. If she had gone ahead and killed them, yeah, killing unarmed prisoners who share a LOT in common with your converted soldiers is going to trigger some resistance. But you tried to kill them before the traitor showed up at all.

Yeah, to be honest, I expected Zybo to wind up dead in the end. Its probably a misunderstanding of the situation.

So its the name of operational security? I could see that... though the identities and size of this particular force are pretty minor concerns at this point. They could possibly be rescued if left without a guard. But everyone else has been building stashes of prisoners all over the place, and securing them with a pair of men. Or escorting the prisoners to bigger location.



So the disconnect on the warcrime comes because you're killing to secure very little information when most of this end of the ship (and indeed most of the ship) belongs to you.
