Re: Orbital Lasers
I think the aliens would just want the humans to keep quiet while they took over the Outer Sol System. Of course, there are a lot of nations who would protest alien occupation of the Outer Sol System, so the aliens may place a few spacecraft in order just to make sure that humans do not cause any trouble. The first attempt to destroy or steal the alien spacecraft would probably end with retaliatory destruction of the space infrastructure of the guilty party, which may result in other nations making the attempt.

Re: Orbital Lasers
In this situation, the aliens ignore the ineffective and irrelevant protests of the humans.

Re: Orbital Lasers
Yup. Put an automated observation station at L4 or L5 (so way, way out of our reach), and otherwise ignore Earth if it has nothing they want or need.

Re: Orbital Lasers
L4/L5 are not beyond the technology of humans. If anything would cause the US to dust off the old Saturn V program, it would be alien technology (and every other major power would probably take the publically available designs of the Saturn V and make their own equivalent). Within a year (since we did all of the hard research and development fifty years ago), you would have a dozen missions launched to try to steal alien technology. It might even make a good campaign...
